Sickness has no right in your body.

"But Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law. When he was hung on the cross, he took upon himself the curse for our wrongdoing. For it is written in the Scriptures, 'Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.' Through Christ Jesus, God has blessed the Gentiles with the same blessing he promised to Abraham, so that we who are believers might receive the promised Holy Spirit through faith."

- Galatians 3:13-14 (New Living Translation)

I want to walk you through some scriptures today, to really remind you how blessed you truly are. This week's scripture gets right to it by first shining a light on the fact that Jesus "rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law". Have you ever taken time to look at some of those curses (Deut 28:15-68)?! They're QUITE scary. But I wanted to mention a few of them that I feel are relevant to what we're experiencing in our current times:

  • "then the Lord will overwhelm you and your children with indescribable plagues. These plagues will be intense and without relief, making you miserable and unbearably sick. The Lord will afflict you with every sickness and plague there is, even those not mentioned in this Book of Instruction, until you are destroyed." (Deut 28:59, 61 NLT) Whew! Praise God we're rescued from that!

  • "The Lord will cause you to be defeated by your enemies." (Deut 28:25a NLT) Rescued from that too.

  • "You will plant a vineyard, but you will never enjoy its fruit." (Deut 28:30b NLT) Rescued!

  • "You will go mad because of all the tragedy you see around you." (Deut 28:34 NLT) Nope!

I think you get the point. Without Jesus' sacrifice, we'd be left to receive the curses that come on sinful people but thank God our sins have been forgiven! And because of Jesus' obedience, we can confidently claim the blessings that God promises. Blessings like:

  • "Wherever you go and whatever you do, you will be blessed." (Deut 28:6 NLT)

  • "The Lord will conquer your enemies when they attack you."  (Deut 28:7a NLT)

  • "The Lord will give you prosperity in the land he swore to your ancestors to give you..." (Deut 28:11a NLT)

  • "For he will rescue you from every trap, and protect you from deadly disease." (Psalm 91:3 NLT)

These promises and more belong to you. If you're experiencing any of the curses listed above (or in fear of them), they do NOT have legal jurisdiction in your life if you are a believer in Christ. That means you have full right to kick them out of your mind, your body, your business, etc. If you're struggling to believe that right now, spend more time meditating on the truth of God's word (instead of the news & negativity going around) so that you can build up the faith you need to fight. You get to decide what you'll accept and not accept in your life. Choose well.
