I'm worth more than my work.

“For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”
- Philippians 2:13 (King James Version)

-----

I used to confess this scripture over myself a TON back when I wasn’t as clear about what God wanted me to do in my business as I am now. I highly recommend you doing the same if you’re needing clarity too because I believe it helped me start to pinpoint the area God had for me to focus on.

Anyway, this scripture came back up in my mind recently because I’ve been feeling a divine push to get some major things done and I’ve been truly thankful to God for giving me the energy.  What I didn’t realize though at the time this scripture came back to mind was that, in addition to being thankful for the divine energy, I had started kinda telling myself that this work is all God cares about as it pertains to me.

What the heaven?! 😂 It seems so silly now that the lie has been exposed, but I was really over here on some subconscious “stinkin thinkin” as my mom would call it, somehow believing I’m just a vessel He’s only using to accomplish His will and nothing more.

Now of course God does have a will for our lives that He’s working in us to accomplish. And yes, we have, in a sense, signed up in voluntary service of Him and whatever that will is. But we are not slaves in God’s eyes, we’re sons (and daughters)!

Have you ever told yourself -- or worse, let a ministry leader tell you -- that God is basically just using you to get His work done in the earth? You may have never heard it said that blatantly but I have heard some messages that have left me with the sense that my service is all that matters to God and I think that’s a stronghold He’s actively breaking within my mentality.

Honestly, this morning when I sensed God exposing that lie to my spirit, it rang true to me but I was still a little bit like, ok God but whereissat in Your word though? Next thing I know He had me in Romans 8:15 -- “For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to bring you back again into fear; on the contrary, you received the Spirit, who makes us sons and by whose power we cry out, ‘Abba!’ (that is, ‘Dear Father!’)”

True enough, like all of God’s kids, you have a divine call on your life for something great, but don’t get caught up thinking that’s all God sees when He looks at you. You are not just a purpose robot. God wants more from you than just your werk werk werk werk werk werk (couldn’t help it lol) You are His beloved child with whom He seeks intimate relationship and who He’s always thinking about. He knows and cares about every detail of your life -- not just your progress towards the goals He has set for you. The next time you’re tempted to think that’s all He’s thinking about, read the scriptures in this week’s further study and remind yourself of your worth. Hint: you’re kind of a big deal 😊
