I won't be tired.

Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. So I run with purpose in every step…"

You wanna know what I heard the Lord say to me after my book launch ended, in the midst of my exhaustion from weeks of being “on” on social media 24/7 and the general fatigue that comes from literally birthing a vision?!

Don’t get tired now, that was just conditioning!

Before I had the chance to rebuke that thought (because chiiIile!), He brought to mind all the things I see myself doing and becoming in the future through this platform -- best-selling author, international speaker, thought leader, etc. I actually saw a vision of myself getting ready backstage for a major talk show or event with my family there beside me, supporting & cheering me on. In that moment I could see all the traveling, campaigning & meeting new people involved with this path and it got SUPER real:

Giving birth to a vision isn’t the end of a race, it’s only the beginning.

As much as that really wasn’t the word I was looking for from God at the time, it’s the word I needed to keep me going. While I was focused on wallowing in my tiredness, God was focused on coaching me toward my greatness. He gave me the reality check that I needed to avoid getting burned out in my mind this early in the race when there’s so much ground yet to cover.

I really enjoyed His use of the word “conditioning” too. Having run track through middle and high school I could really relate to how this stage in my entrepreneurial journey is similar to how conditioning works during the track season. At first it sucks, but then the things that killed your lungs & legs at the beginning are loads easier toward the end. And you feel so good about yourself for having gotten your body in shape for the season ahead.

That encouraged me so much! Soon I’ll be able to do launches in my sleep and still be energized and ready to take on something else. Either because I’ll continue getting better at it or because I’m learning the job well enough now to be able to delegate it to a future team member who’s divinely skilled in that area, amend! 🙌🏾

If you’ve just birthed your vision or are in that time and space after a major push, I would be a hypocrite if I told you it wasn’t ok to be tired. You just had a baby! Take the rest you need to recuperate and get your energy back. Just don't let that tiredness sink in to your psyche too long. You can't afford to do that because you still have more major moves to make as you run toward the finish line of your dreams.  Be encouraged, knowing that what’s difficult for you today will be easier for you to manage further down the line and you have the world’s best Coach by your side helping you get there.
