I create more wealth than I consume.

“Nevertheless, lest we offend them, go to the sea, cast in a hook, and take the fish that comes up first. And when you have opened its mouth, you will find a piece of money; take that and give it to them for Me and you.”

- Matthew 17:27 (New King James Version)

The other day I was getting into the shower trying to figure out why I hadn’t booked my much-needed nail appointment yet. Looking at the state of my nails I clearly needed a major fill-in and I was also just feeling like I could use some self-care. Why hadn’t I booked yet? When I realized it was because I honestly didn’t feel like I had the money to do it, I immediately sensed Holy Spirit whisper to me: “Create the money.”

Whew chilaaaaaay!!!! Honestly my primary hesitation wasn’t with having this one nail appointment. I had enough money in the bank for it. What was giving me pause was whether or not I was ready to commit to giving myself this luxury on a recurring basis considering I just left my job and no longer have a steady paycheck to rely on. God was showing me that I needed to shift my thinking:

It’s no longer about how much money I have guaranteed to come in, it’s about how much money I decide to consistently create.

Then He brought this week’s scripture up in my remembrance and how Jesus led Peter to use what he was good at (fishing) to produce the provision they needed for the taxes. Now of course a nail appointment isn’t as serious as paying taxes but the lesson Jesus was teaching Peter (and us) still applies:

Our talents are designed to create the wealth that we need.

Listen, for every desire that you have at the moment or need that’s currently unmet, there is a talent living within you right now to help you fulfill it. You just have to do your part to uncover that talent and put it to work. When God says He supplies all our needs, He is not lying! He did it when He created you, before you ever even had a need. You were born with the supply already there within you, waiting to be tapped. Don’t you think God knew you were going to need money!? Monnneeeeeeey!?! You can create that boo.

I was watching an interview of this foreign multi-billionaire talking about how if he wants a million-dollar car, he just buys a property that will produce enough income to cover the car within a year. He essentially creates the money he desires to spend. Then recently, as I was reading Atomic Habits by James Clear, he mentioned how if you’re going to be a millionaire, it's as simple as building a habit of creating more wealth than you consume. Period.

Once you’ve done the work to uncover your wealth-creating talents, the only thing stopping you from producing it is your own mindset.

God sure isn’t stopping you. Maybe you’re facing some pretty steep mountains in your life but God got those too. You just need the right mindset to help you get there. I challenge you to speak this affirmation out loud over yourself this week: “I create more wealth than I consume.” It is, after all, based on God’s word which says He’s given us the power to get wealth (Deut. 8:18).

The more you speak God’s word over yourself out loud, and allow your ears to hear it, the more your own mind starts to believe it. And tell me, how do you think your bank account would look if you started to believe you’re more of a wealth creator than a wealth consumer? Let’s find out.
