God doesn’t want you spinning your wheels.

"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."

- Isaiah 40:31 (King James Version)

This week's scripture has taken on new meaning for me lately. I feel like God has been training me over the past month or so on how to truly "wait" on Him, specifically as it relates to things I'm working on in business. I'm learning there's a real process to inviting God into your daily decision-making and wanted to share it with you today. It looks kind of like:

  1. Wrap your head around the thing you need God's direction on so you're clear about exactly what to ask for.

  2. Ask Him for the specific help you need. No vague prayers.

  3. "Wait" in expectation of your answer by giving Him actual room to answer it. This may look like taking a break from working on whatever you've asked Him about until He responds; distracting your mind from thinking about it so that it can receive HIS thoughts about it.

  4. When the answer comes, you'll know it. You'll get a "bing!" in your spirit as my friend Toni calls it  Conversely, when you don't have it yet you'll still feel a sense of uneasiness around it & a lack of peace. Wait for the bing. Then it's time to execute.

Admittedly, I've been guilty of asking God for direction or a strategy and then, right after the prayer, just continuing to power through and think about what the strategy could be instead of "casting the care" on Him for a time to let Him bring me the answer. I now see how that behavior led to more time wasted spinning my wheels instead of executing with precision and, I gotta say, I like executing with precision MUCH better.

I hope this God-inspired lesson encourages you to tap into the power of waiting on Him vs trying to stick to whatever your schedule is. I know it can be uncomfortable in the waiting period, not knowing how long the answer will take to arrive, but take it from someone who has been proving this in my own life on a daily basis lately; when you actually give God room to speak to you, He WILL speak. And it often won't take as long as you think.

  • Jeremiah 42:1-7 → Be as confident as Jeremiah was that God would give him an answer. It took 10 days, but it came. And we're under an even better covenant than he was.

  • Luke 5:1-11 → Sometimes, in your waiting period, you might sense God asking you to do something completely else that has nothing to do with the thing you've asked Him about, but do it! I've experienced obedience in other areas unlocking direction / provision in the areas I've been seeking Him about.

  • 1 Peter 5:7 → Let God care for the answer to your prayer.

  • Shoutout to my amazing business coach, Denise Sarkor, who encouraged me to install more "thinking" time into my work days. This got the ball rolling on God showing me this process and it's been a game-changer in creating more clarity in my business. Here's a great article about it that I encourage you to check out.
