God already has a plan.

"Within your heart you can make plans for your future, but the Lord chooses the steps you take to get there."

- Proverbs 16:9 (The Passion Translation)

-----

One of my besties had a major breakthrough recently where she realized that a project she had been "working on" for the past 3 years, a project that she THOUGHT God wanted her to produce this whole time, actually wasn't the thing God wanted her to do in the first place. I also just recently experienced this same situation in my own life where I thought God meant for me to create one thing when really it was something completely else. I've also had a few similar conversations with other peers recently so I felt it was time to share what we've discussed with you too. Here's what I've been able to boil it down to:

Sometimes we can have the right vision, but the wrong execution.

Meaning there was nothing wrong with the vision God gave you--you actually saw an accurate picture of it from the beginning. You just got the plan wrong. Just like our scripture says, we make plans in our heart for how to accomplish the vision God gave us, but, in the end, He's already got the plan figured out. So, instead of bulldozing ahead immediately after receiving the vision, we just need to take a beat to find out what He has to say about the execution too.

Whew. Isn't it a relief to know you're not crazy? (and neither is God? lol)

And, if you got it wrong, don't spend another minute beating yourself up about it. As you can see, it CLEARLY happens to the best of us. Even if you’ve wasted time or money going in the wrong direction (I know I have! 🙋), chalk it all up as learnings and keep it moving. I also encourage you not to keep going in the wrong direction just for the sake of salvaging your investment. Once God's revealed it to you, recalibrate and trust that He'll work it all out for your good and help you not to make the same mistake in the future.
